Annie_Adjustment_2.jpgChiropractic is a safe, natural and necessary form of healthcare for children. From the moment of birth, children can have misalignments in their spines caused from the birth process. This can occur even in a "normal" birth.  As a young child grows and develops he or she will fall thousands of times. Bones can easily misalign which creates pressure on the nerves.  If left untreated, these misalignments can affect the continuing formation of the spine and the function of the body.  When this happens there is interference within the communication system from the brain to the rest of the body, contributing to many childhood health issues, ie. breathing problems, asthma, allergies, projectile vomiting, croup, colic, ear infections, digestion, bowel and/or bladder problems such as bed-wetting, sleep problems and even how happy a child may feel.

Scoliosis is a common childhood spinal problem that can grow into greater problems as the child ages.  Scoliosis is a series of misalignments of the spine causing the spine to curve side-to-side.  Chiropractic care is a safe, non-invasive method of correcting the spinal misalignments involved in scoliosis.  Dr. Trenton has adjusted several children, teens, and even adults with various degrees of scoliosis and seen improvements!

Dr. Trenton has adjusted children soon after their birth and children well into their teens.  Dr. Trenton even adjusted his own daughter within the first few hours of her birth.  With Dr. Trenton's gentle adjusting techniques children of all ages can benefit from the chiropractic care provided in our office.

What about adjustments during PREGNANCY?

Adjustments throughout the pregnancy process is beneficial for both mom and baby. Over the years Dr. Trenton has adjusted many pregnant women and provided care for them throughout their pregnancies.  Chiropractic adjustments during pregnancy keeps the pelvis in proper alignment to facilitate an easier birth.  The less stressful the birth, the less trauma to the baby as it enters into this world.  In one study, women receiving Chiropractic care through their first pregnancy had 24% shorter labor times than the group not receiving Chiropractic, and women having additional children reported 39% shorter labor times  That's amazing!

Children who are under chiropractic care for regular check ups and adjustments, when needed, will have better functioning nervous systems running their bodies.  Chiropractic care has been demonstrated to improve children's immunity, body functioning, physical development, skills, concentration, and even performance in school and sports.

Dr. Johns is a member of the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association (ICPA) and has gone through training and certification to for the Webster Technique.  The Webster Technique was developed by Dr. Larry Webster.  "The Webster Technique is a specific chiropractic analysis and diversified adjustment. The goal of the adjustment is to reduce the effects of sacral subluxation/ SI joint dysfunction. In so doing neuro-biomechanical function in the pelvis is improved."* "In regards to pregnant mothers, Dr. Webster reported that when a mother sought care and her baby was in a breech position, the restoration of pelvic neuro-biomechanics with this adjustment also frequently facilitated optimal fetal positioning.  There are cases published in the chiropractic literature that support this theory."*
